Question from Our Discord (anonymized):
Is it possible to create my own category? Expenses for my child (shopping, doctors, food) are scattered across five categories, but in my head it’s one budget.
Answer
Yes — you can create your own expense and income categories. Your category appears everywhere the built-in ones do: on charts, in the transaction overview, and when changing categories.
How to do it:
- Settings → Categories → add category (name, icon, color), or simply in the chat: “add category Child”.
- Assign transactions — from the transaction list or in the chat: “mark this transaction as Child”, “put everything from the pharmacy and Smyk into Child”.
- The rule also works retroactively — you immediately see how much actually goes to this category month after month.
Manual category changes are protected: no automation will overwrite them, and the chat sees them instantly. We’ve also added a built-in “Child” category (https://martia.pl/kategoria-dziecko-i-czystszy-widok-wydatkow) — your own is useful when you want to split it your way, e.g., into doctors and clothes.
On the roadmap next: budgets for your own categories and pinning categories that matter to you, not necessarily the most expensive ones.
