I get paid on the 27th — how do I set my own month start date?

Question from our Discord (anonymized):

The starting day of my cycle is the day my salary comes in, not the 1st of the month. Without this option, my monthly balance goes into the red for most of the month.

Answer
You can set this in Settings → Start of Financial Month. By default it’s the 1st, but if you get paid on, say, the 27th, set it to 27 — Martia will count a “month” from the 27th to the 26th of the next month, in all reports, charts, and the feed.

If your data has regular income on a day other than around the 1st, Martia will suggest an appropriate date on its own — just accept it. Details and examples: https://martia.pl/wlasny-poczatek-miesiaca-finansowego

Two notes from practice: (1) “last business day” is not a fixed date — set the day that falls most often, and once in a while a payment will fall into the previous period; (2) the calendar in the expense view now shows the financial period, not the calendar month — if you see a calendar month anywhere else, report it here.
