Would it be possible to automatically pay recurring bills from Martia?
Answer
No, and that’s intentional. Martia has read-only access to your banks (so-called AIS under PSD2): it can see balances and transactions, but cannot initiate a transfer, change limits, or pay anything. There’s no technical way for anyone — us, a bug in the code, or someone who obtained your Martia password — to move your money through Martia.
What Martia does with recurring bills: it recognizes fixed payments (rent, subscriptions, installments) even when the same company appears across different banks, and can distinguish its payments by exact amount or amount range. This way you can ask in the chat “how much do I pay monthly for subscriptions” or “what changed in my recurring payments”.
Payment initiation services (PIS) are not planned — we prefer to be a tool that understands your money rather than another one that has the keys to it.
